Heavy bolters are the largest form of Bolt Weapon technology used by infantry on the 40k battlefield. The heavy bolter can lay down a suppressing field of sustained fire for long bursts, or quickly wittle down even the largest enemy. Due to the high powered bolts used the heavy bolter does suffer from some very noticable recoil.
Tactics
The heavy bolter is the pinnacle of the Bolt Weapons development, with it you can lay down a sustained, hail of deadly fire, even at long range. Even the biggest nasties out there bow down before the might of the heavy bolter. Best used in short bursts to manage the recoil.
